Position Description

The Black Educators Mentorship and Support (BEAMS) Program at Skyline College is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Student Program Assistant to support the smooth operation of this mentorship initiative. The BEAMS Program is designed to increase the representation of Black educators by providing mentorship, training, and professional development for Black graduate students preparing for community college teaching roles.

Student Program Assistant Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the BEAMS Program, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and coordinating program events.
  • Organize program events such as orientations, training sessions, and the program completion event, including managing logistics and communications.
  • Serve as the point of contact for program participants, mentors, and faculty, responding to inquiries and providing relevant program information.
  • Maintain accurate records of program activities, participant progress, and event attendance.
  • Assist with marketing and outreach, including creating promotional materials and social media management.
  • Work closely with the Program Facilitator to ensure smooth program operations and provide support as needed.

Requirements

  • Administrative support experience

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable Skills

  • Graphic Design experience
  • Social Media Management

Hours: 10 hours per week
