Position Description
Under the supervisor of the Program Services Coordinator, the ESL Connect Ambassador(s) will provide hands on student support services to ESL applicants and ESL students and manage ELI front desk and fulfill clerical tasks. We highly prefer and need a bilingual speaker who can speak Spanish and assist with verbal translation
**Orientation and hands on training will be provided.**
Requirements
A. ESOL student support duties:
- Answer student questions to orient Nonnative English speaker to a ESL Connect nd campus services (in-person or via Zoom)
- Assist new student in applying in WebSmart, CCCApply and scheduling for placements test and referring them to orientation and registration process and provide a copy of appointment reminders
- Assist Program Services Coordinator and ESL counselor in walking students over to building 2 (admissions, testing, financial aid) and ensure that they receive services needed
- Assist students in applying for FAFSA and referring them to financial aid resources on the website or on building 19
- Assist with setting up the direct deposit for FAFSA & FAFSA payment plan
- Refer new and continuing students to student support services and walk them to the building location only as needed.

- Programs: EOPS, TRIO, CARE, daycare, Hermanos, Puente, etc.
- Clubs
B. ESL CONNECT Office Assistant and Reception Duties:
- Help new and current nonnative English speaking students access services at ESL Connect
- Greet students in a welcoming manner and assist them in getting to know the services
- Help students (walk –in or with appointment) check-in at the front desk
- Answer phone and respond to email requests in a professional manner
- Responsible for setting up student appointments with ESL counselor or Program Services Coordinator using Skyline’s scheduling system
- Call students the day before appointments to remind them of appointments
- Photocopying, data entry, and other general office tasks
- Run errands in behalf of ESL Connect and other duties or projects as assigned by the Program Services Coordinator and straighten and keep ESL Connect organized
- Inform students about SparkPoint: food pantry, public benefits, financial coaching, Grove Scholarship, and free tax preparation.
- Assist with special events
C. Event Support Duties
- Visit classes to promote/announce the center and course offerings
- Assist with logistics for the ESL registration day/Super Saturday
- Assist with follow-ups with potential students from ESL Reg/Super Saturday
- Assists with the enrollment station during Reg Day
This is a Federal Work Study position and applicants must be eligible.
