Position Description
- General Description: The Art Program is in the Social Science and Creative Arts (SS/CA) Division Office at Skyline College. The student will assist the Art Lab Coordinator in supporting all aspects of the art program.Primary Duties:
– Exchanges information with Art Lab Coordinator and Dean as well as students, faculty, and staff as needed; regarding program related subject-matter, resources, materials, events, policies and procedures associated with the division events, programs, and spaces.
– Coordinates with Art Lab Coordinator regarding student materials for use in laboratory and instructional spaces.
– Assists Art Lab Coordinator with preparation, setup, maintenance, and operations of all Art instruction, lab, and display spaces (e.g. – darkroom, ceramics lab, painting/drawing classrooms, etc.).
– Makes presentations to small and large groups and conduct outreach activities to publicize events, shows and programs as assigned.
– Troubleshoots operational issues, handling, and use of art materials, technology and classroom equipment.
– Assists with all aspects of Art program events and outreach activities.
– Assists Art Lab Coordinator and performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- Qualifications:
– Read and understand technical instructions in English
– Able to lift and carry 40 lbs of material (e.g., clay)
– Comfortable lifting and moving art and/or photography equipment
– Strong sense of punctuality and meeting deadlines
– Ability to easily adapt to the changing needs of the Art Department and a fast- paced work environmentPreferred Qualifications:
– Knowledge of visual arts
– Art major or has taken art courses
– Flexibility with work schedule
- This is a Federal Work Study position and applicants must be eligible.
