Position Description

Under the supervision of the Program Services Coordinator (PSC), the Learning Communities Student Assistant will provide support to the PSC, LC faculty and students through digital and print marketing, event planning and outreach.

Activities include but are not limited to calling admitted students to support with enrollment, coordinating student volunteers for pre-recorded discussions, event tabling, delivering class presentations (via zoom and in-person), and designing print and digital/social media materials for distribution. The student assistant should have interest and/or experience with social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok etc.) and also be interested in new technologies and software related to building community, including through our campus learning platform, Canvas.

Requirements

  •  A strong interest in helping students access needed campus services & provide warm customer service
  • Ability and willingness to provide students (one-on-one) hands on support with Skyline College’s enrollment process and accessing student services
  • Ability to research and learn about different Skyline College student resources
  • Cross cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse students from different cultures and backgrounds
  • Reliable and detail oriented and organized
  • Must have solid MS office skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to keep confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Ability to learn new database system and has solid data entry skills
  • Responsible, punctual, and reliable
  • Able to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented and able to demonstrate strong organizational skills
  • Familiarity with key software: WebSmart, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Google Drive
  • Basic computer experience
  • Knowledge of general office support
  • Can support students from the office in-person, via Zoom and phone (no remote work)

**Orientation and hands-on training as well as ongoing supervision support will be provided.**
