Position Description The U.S. Passport Office within the Study Abroad Unit of the Global Learning Programs and Services Division at Skyline College provides students, faculty, staff, and the local community with convenient and customer-friendly services. It helps applicants to apply or renew their U.S. passports, which is vital to the passport issuance process of the U.S. Department of State. The Passport Office Student Assistant is responsible for assisting passport agents to accept passport applications.

  • Greet and welcome passport applicants.
  • Answer phone calls to schedule appointments.
  • Explain the functions of application forms.
  • Take passport photos.
  • Design flyers and sign-in sheets.
  • Conduct data summary and analysis.
  • Assist with the walk-in services.
  • Promote passport services via social media.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desirable Skills Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of relevant software, including Microsoft Products, Google Workspace, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong sense of punctuality and attendance record, intercultural competence to communicate appropriately with people from different cultural backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Customer service experience
  • Fluency in a second language
  • Flexibility with work schedules
