FWS – Peer Wellness Educator

Position Description Peer Wellness Educators will:

  • Promote mental health awareness on campus through helping to organize campus events, giving classroom presentations/workshops, tabling, flyering, and other such duties.
  • Support and expand the Active Minds at Skyline student club. Club meetings are generally one hour every other week and attendance would be part of the Peer Wellness Educator’s responsibilities.
  • Serve as an on-campus resource for students to get connected to Personal Counseling and other services.
  • Receive training opportunities on a variety of mental health issues ranging from coping and stress, mindfulness, healthy relationships, suicide, and others.

This position is in-person, though some meetings and/or events may be zoom-based from time to time.

Requirements
  • This is a Federal Work Study position and applicants must be eligible
  • Organized
  • Interested in raising mental health awareness
  • Willing to give presentations to classrooms
  • Creative in coming up with events and ways to connect with the Skyline student body
  • Willing to talk with other students about upcoming activities and events
  • Social media savvy (not mandatory, but encouraged)
  • Graphic design skills and a passion for public speaking are pluses
