Dual Enrollment Student Ambassador

Position Description

  • Ability to effectively communicate to students about the many opportunities and benefits of enrolling at Skyline College.
  • Share information about early college programs such as: Dual Enrollment, Concurrent Enrollment and Middle College.
  • Guide high school students through the California Community Colleges application while explaining benefits and risks of registration.
  • Assisting students with the Student Success Link (SSL) consent process to allow for registration in Dual Enrollment courses
  • Represent Skyline College at high schools, on campus and in the greater community. Events included but not limited to: staffing information tables, campus tours, high school career and college fairs, and application workshops.
  • Follow-up with potential students who have applied to Dual Enrollment but have not registered.
  • Take initiative to be knowledgeable about college programs (e.g. College certificates, associate degrees, transfer services, honors program, etc.) and services (e.g. Financial aid, Promise Scholars Program, EOPS, ASCC, Puente, SparkPoint, STEM Center etc.)
  • Maintain working relationships with college departments that participate in recruitment and outreach efforts.
  • Assist in the collaboration and distribution of college/recruitment materials such as catalogs, schedules, enrollment forms, and promotional items.
  • Assist the Dual Enrollment team in student registration efforts through spreadsheet organization, course mapping, and calendar creation.
  • Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings and mandatory training.
  • Maintain professional uniformed attire when actively serving as a Student Ambassador.
  • Preparing promotional materials which will include lifting objects of up to 35lbs.

Requirements

  • Skyline College students in good academic standing (2.0 GPA) enrolled in a minimum of 6 units workload during Spring 2025 to begin training for the job position
  • Customer Service Friendly and Student-First Forward attitude
  • Must be dependable, proactive, have strong presentation and oral/written communication skills
  • Must be able to multitask and work independently with minimum supervision and maintain effective work relationships
  • Must have general office computer skills, including fluency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite (Drive, Doc, Sheets, Slides) and Zoom
  • General record keeping of confidential files and data management practices
  • Must have some knowledge of matriculation to the Community College and other segments of higher education (Additional training will be provided)
  • Skills to perform administrative and customer service-related tasks
  • Lift printed materials weighing up to 35lbs
  • Have a valid CA license and able to drive to and from schools and community organizations as needed.
  • Shifts are scheduled between times of 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Blocks of 4 – 5 hour shifts (morning hours desirable)
  • Subject to a background check and TB test
  • Nice to have — communication skills in a second language
