Position Description

The successful candidate will assist with Skyline College’s outreach and recruitment efforts on campus, at local feeder high schools, and in the community. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively communicate to students about the many opportunities and benefits of enrolling at Skyline College.
  • Ability to represent Skyline College at high schools, on campus and in the community. Events included but are not limited to: staffing information tables, campus tours, high school career fairs and college fairs, application workshops, outreach at community centers and shopping centers.
  • Responsibility to follow-up with potential students who have applied to Skyline College but have not registered.
  • Initiative to be knowledgeable about the college programs (e.g. College certificates, associate degrees, transfer services, honors program, etc.) and services such as, financial aid, scholarships, EOPS, etc.
  • Maintenance of an effective working relationship with other college departments that participate in the college’s recruiting and outreach efforts such as, Financial Aid, Counseling and EOPS.
  • Assisting in the collation and distribution of college/recruitment materials such as catalogs, schedules and enrollment forms
  • Working with the Outreach Program Services Coordinator to maintain and update high school and community directories.
  • Effective communications skills, good listening skills, strong verbal and written skills
  • Comfortable presenting information to small groups
  • Comfortable working with diverse student populations
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask
  • Have a desire to learn more about community colleges and communicating to the public
  • Available to work 10-12 hours a week with flexibility to support some evening and weekend work
  • Must have valid Social Security card to be employed
  • Have your own car/transportation to get to & from local high schools for tabling/workshops
