Study Abroad Ambassador

Position Description The Study Abroad Ambassador is responsible for promoting study abroad programs, planning study abroad events, and helping with the passport services if needed.

  • Assist the study abroad services and support study abroad students at different stages: application, pre-departure, while abroad, and after return
  • Share study abroad experience at information sessions and study abroad fairs
  • Plan and coordinate study abroad and international education events under the guidance of SMCCCD Study Abroad staff, e.g. study abroad photo/video/essay contests and international education week celebration
  • Promote study abroad events through social media, Pronto, Canvas, etc.
  • Compile a study abroad newsletter
  • Set up post-event evaluation and generate evaluation reports
  • Help with the passport services and perform other related duties as required or assigned
Desirable Skills Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Experience in using various types of social media,
  • Knowledge of relevant software, including Microsoft Products (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Google Workspace and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment
  • Intercultural competence to understand and communicate appropriately with people from different cultural backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Study abroad experience
  • Fluency in a second language
  • Flexibility with work schedules
Hours Required 8 – 10 hours per week
